With the year coming to a close, the Niche team are eager to thank all our colleagues, partners and fellow science-enthusiasts for their engagement over the last 12 months and share our greetings for the season (what we at Niche call Niche-mas as a time when we take a break and reflect on the year that has just passed).
On reflection, 2012 has been a great year. We started the year with our grant-funded MID-Frail research programme being approved by the European Union Horizon 20-20 fund. We followed this by rapid take up of the project and clinical activities as we onboarded our study sites across Europe. We also saw several manuscripts published that were written by the Niche team on subjects like lipid-lowering and female incontinence. We have also published several blogs on issues such as efficient editing techniques and developments in various fields in medical science. You may have noticed this this year not only did we release our new website and brand image, we also launched our news website FYI-News, our science and industry news hub. Please reach out to us at info@niche.org.uk if you would like us to post your latest news or update on the site.
Looking ahead to 2013, it looks like we have an exciting year ahead. We are still waiting to hear from the EU on our grant application, Frailomic, looking at biomarkers that might identify people predisposed to early-onset frailty. We also have several blogs planned detailing best practice on a variety of industry activities and several new review manuscripts in advanced stages of development. We hope to continue to release more of our industry leading Insider’s Insights – so remember to sign up for our email updates here.
Ultimately, it has been another successful year for Niche, as we continue to innovate and expand our ever-growing portfolio of projects and 2013 offers exciting initiatives to come. That leaves us with the one pleasant task of share our best wishes for the next year, where we hope we can continue working with the broader scientific, medical and pharma community. In the words of Charles Dickens’ Tiny Tim “A Merry Christmas to us all; God bless us, everyone!”
