Ruth Hardman has been an integral part of Niche Science & Technology Ltd. since 1999, becoming Finance Director in 2007. In this role, she manages all aspects of the company’s financial operations, including accounts, contracts, and invoicing. Ruth also oversees payroll, HR, and employee records, ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the business. Her leadership has been instrumental in developing and implementing bespoke time-tracking processes, as well as building comprehensive financial and budgetary monitoring systems that allow for accurate forecasting and efficient resource management. She also maintains our quote and contract trackers, bringing clarity and structure to every stage of client engagement.

Ruth’s career began in science, having earned an honours degree in Pharmacology from King’s College London. As a postgraduate, she conducted research in the anti-inflammatory and anti-nociceptive fields, publishing several peer-reviewed papers on these subjects. This scientific training gives Ruth a unique perspective at Niche, combining analytical rigour with practical financial oversight.

Beyond her professional achievements, Ruth has a range of talents that might surprise many. A proficient bassoonist, she achieved Grade 8 at a young age and performed with the Richmond Youth Symphony Orchestra, showcasing her dedication and discipline outside the workplace. Her competitive streak also shines through in more light-hearted settings, particularly when she takes on her three sons in online gaming battles.
